Evil Mood

I am in an evil mood. Right now I have my own personal darkness. You can see the clouds whirling around my head and the lightening shooting out like octopus tentacles. I am strongly wishing I was Ginny Weasley and could Bat-Bogey Hex someone.

So now having learned my frame of mind, be aware this is a nail rant, so look away now if you couldn't give two shits about my nails. However, if grooming is important to you, or you have ever struggled to find a good hairdresser. Some of this will sound eerily familiar.

I know, KNOW, that to find a good nail tech is like, damn near impossible. The good ones are all booked up, or not taking new clients, because as I said, they are good. That leaves you the dregs. Some of the dregs have potential, they are just new and building clientele. These are the ones you want. Problem is, how do you get to these people and bypass the mouth breathers who went into the profession because they think it will be 'fun'. Like idiots who think owning a bridal shop will be fun. Have you ever met a calm, easy-going bride?

I can guarantee I am not fun. I want my nails to look a certain way. I take a lot of pride in them, and if you don't when you do them, you're not for me. Doing gel nails is detailed work. But too many techs approach it like a conveyor belt. They buy these scary dremel type electric files that could cut through your nail bed in a second, and use that more then their regular file so they can get done fast. Problem is, this is really hard on your nails, and I happen to be one of those people who has really sensitive nail beds. When I am the one who says, whoa - slow down, you know there is a problem.

So now I live in a place where there are exactly 3 gel nail techs. Everywhere else in the world they breed like tribbles, here 3. So I made an appointment with one and went to have my nails done yesterday. I told them before I went in that I had gel nails, before I knew what was happening they did them in acrylic. Piss me off. But the worst part is I woke up this morning and they were YELLOW. Not a light, aged yellow, but a sick diseased yellow. I am assuming this is a reaction between the gel and acrylic, but have no idea. Should I get this stuff off as fast as possible or is it good for a few days until I get into Calgary? I have no idea. But I figure it is not a good sign when your nails are lemon yellow.

So now I am forced to try to track down one of the other 2 techs and see if either of them can fix this botched job. Cause, I just have all kinds of free time right now. Sitting on my ass, eating bon-bons, that's my life.

You know what? I SERIOUSLY considered taking a nail tech course. and now I'm starting to think, it's not such a bad idea!Just think, if you and I do it together, we can do EACH OTHER'S NAILS!

PS Word verification - SHETPVO - as in She Shetpoved my nails.

Hey Jessica,

Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it. I have fallen off a little, I was actually thinking about it today. And at the risk of sounding like I am making excuses, I have been living out of a suitcase for 2 months and traveling between Banff and Lethbridge almost every weekend, so my life has been hectic. But I am going to try to make an effort to post at least 3 times a week. Sometime, inspiration though, is a fleeting bitch!
