3rd Anniversary

On Saturday this blog turned 3 years old. I am really quite surprised I been going this long. And I won't lie, sometimes thinking of what to write about is almost physically painful. For more then a year now I have been carrying a notepad with me everywhere. Searching for inspiration or jotting down ideas that pop into my head. It is the only way to come up with a topic to write about some weeks. Other weeks, everything just comes together. Great posts jump out of my head. But, sadly, most of the time it is the other way. Writer's block, somedays she is a snaggle toothed hag gnawing on my brain .

My goal over the past few months has been to updated 3 times a week. Some weeks I have even done it! However, the last ten months have been pretty turbulent for me, a couple big heart breaks, but also some wonderful opportunities, and luckily, things seem to be finally going in the right direction personally and professionally. Quick picture of me enjoying my new surroundings top left.

So quick recap of the last year.
  • April: told we were getting a baby, then the birth mother changing her mind. Many months of trying not to think about it ensue.
  • May: passed over for a FT teaching position. Many tears. Enormous Rage. Massive self doubt.
  • June - July: looking for a new job, fielding offers, accepting a new position!
  • Sept: relocating to Canada's Wonderland for my job. Spending the first few weeks just wandering around in awe of how beautiful everything in Banff is.
  • Sept-Nov: living in a shoebox alone for 4 months. Traveling from Banff to Lethbridge and back almost every weekend. Exhausted road warrior.
  • Dec: buying the MOST EXPENSIVE house I have ever lived in, and also the smallest.
  • Dec: pulling out all the flooring so new hardwood and slate can be put in. My right arm stops speaking to me for over a week.
  • Dec: Moving in on the 2 coldest days of the year. Washing machine hoses explode after freezing due to front door being left open to bring in furniture.
  • Jan: Completing gargantuan amount of paper work to re-start adoption process.
  • Feb: Attend required adoption seminar, begin putting together our portfolio for the birth mother, go through a home study.
  • Feb: repaint about 80% of the house
Whew! That's a lot of stuff. But I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. At least I hope it is the light, and not an oncoming train.

Finally, I have next week off so I am going to try to do a re-design of this blog at that time. I have already started working on it, deciding what to keep, what to jettison. I am just hoping I can get the design to work the way I want. Cross your fingers! In 2 weeks you will hopefully be visiting a far more streamlined blog!

My suggestion on new blog stuff (Move to Wordpress.com) you wont be dissapointed, but you will have to redirect this site for a while. Also buy an actual domain name as well, like completelybarkingmad.com (It's available) it will only cost you $15 bucks a year and you can then port your site anywhere you like without changing the web address.

You know where I am if you need me.
