Serenity/Firefly is the new Star Trek

So most of you know I am a huge sci fi fan. However, what most of you don't know is that I am also a huge Joss Whedon fan. I loved Buffy and Angel and never missed an episode of either. However, I was slow to adopt Firefly. I watched half of one episode and then gave up, said episode has now become one of my favorite.

In the fall Mark and I went to see Serenity (the movie based on the cancelled TV Show Firefly). We were blown out of the water. The last time I enjoyed a movie that much was when I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean. So of course, it got us wondering about Firefly the TV show. So we rented it, and feel in love. Now we own both the TV show and the Movie and tell everyone we know how great both are. In Firefly parlace we have become Browncoats.

Which brings me to the conclusion that this Serenity/Firefly is the new Star Trek. Take a look at the rabid fan base! The DVD of the TV series has not been out of the top 15 on Amazon in the last 2 years! Everyone I talk to who has discovered this series on DVD has become an avid fan. Which leads me to believe that conventions are not far off. Man, I hope so!
