Ebenezer Fournier

I should say straight out that this is going to be a very negative post. I know there are a lot of people who worship the Christmas tree rug that Martha Stewart walks on; people who just can't wait to bake cookies and hang lights; people who just get tingly thinking about Christmas. If this sounds like you, please stop reading this post right now.

Honestly, I am beginning to hate Christmas. Ok, my counsellor has encouraged me not to repress my feelings. I am not slightly uncomfortable with heights, I am fall on my knees weeping with terror afraid of heights. So let's just get this out, I dislike Christmas in the same way I dislike stepping in doggy do do. It usually creates an instant feeling of anger, followed by a flash of frustration, and ending in a strong conviction that this is going to cost me time and money to fix.

First, I dislike the line ups. Suddenly, every shopaholic who hasn't seen the inside of Winners in the last year has to loiter there all day, every day. Next I dislike the pressure to decorate. Why would I put up a bunch of stuff that is going to have to be taken down again in a few weeks. In the meantime it has to be dusted. I do work you know. But most of all I dislike the escalating cost of this joyous time of year.

The only good thing about Christmas is the time you off get from work, and the opportunity to spend it with family. Other than that it is just one giant garish menagerie of excess with tinsel and icicle shaped porch lights.

People wonder why I love Halloween so much.
