Gobsmacked

Today is the first day in weeks I there hasn't been an insane line up in Starbucks. I actually got in and out of there in less then ten minutes. No one shoved me, there were no little kids running around. Can it be that the summer is coming to an end and the tourist are starting to thin? Let's say a silent prayer that this is what is going on.

It's not just Starbucks, you have walk down the alleys to get anywhere because the main street is packed to capacity with gawking tourists. Nobody moves from their course. They just keep trudging along stubbornly ignoring the fact that you are going to be pushed into the street because they couldn't alter their path by a foot.

You need reservations for every place, or can forget getting in. Unless you want to eat at 4pm. The hot springs are clogged with people. Yes, it appears I can proudly wear my 'I survived my first tourist season in Banff' pin.

What kills me is that I hear from everyone who has been here a long time is that it isn't as busy as it was even 10 years ago.
