My Runner, My Old Friends

Last week I bought my latest pair of running shoes. In two years I have managed to mile out 3 pairs of trainers. I have so many runners laying about the place you'd think they had become like tribbles and started breeding. I don't know what to do with them anymore.

I am conflicted because I haven't owned them long enough to throw them out. Nor are they in bad enough shape. Or can my guilt over their price allow such a thing.

My first miled our pair ended up in my van. As 'just in case' shoes. Just in case, I am trying to break in spring foot ware and I start to drip blood. Or just in case I end up in Waterton and need to go on a hike. Or just in case I want to wear runners with a skirt at a wine and cheese because that looks says I am professional, who never eats after eight pm, and takes salsa dancing lessons on my own time.

The second pair became my wearing out runners. Yes, they are miled out. However, they aren't so far gone that they can't handle holding up my arches through a movie. Or walking to the local pub a block away.

But now I have a third pair! I have no idea what to do with them. Should I move them into Mark's car as 'just in case' shoes? Or should I move my second pair there and use the third as my car's 'just in case' shoes? Do you see what I mean? This is the trouble with trainers.

I say donate the first pair to charity - and then move the pairs down the line - Going out pair becomes Jsut in Case pair, new worn outs become Going out pair. I know you haven't had them for a long time, but soon, they will be like tribbles. .. . And just think, someone else who can't afford shoes can still get tons of use outta them.
