Wanted: One Gay

The other day I went for lunch with my friend, Ariana, and our waiter was just so sweet, and knowledgeable, and very gay. We both wanted to adopt him.

When he came to tell us that the restaurant was out of calamari you could tell by the way he had his hand on his hip that, he really, just REALLY felt that was just as unacceptable as wearing a pair of ugly shoes just because they're comfortable. But what I loved the best is that he gave Ariana one of those pens where you can choose the colour of ink by depressing a button at the top to sign her visa slip. When he came back to pick it up, he cooed to her like a sorority sister, 'what colour did you pick?' I swear I was this close to grabbing him and stuffing him in my purse. Then taking home and watching Barbara Stanwyck movies with him.

Sigh. I miss my gay. Sadly, Micheal, died about 2 years ago. Completely unexpected. And now not only do I miss him, I have no one else in my life who comes close to talking as expressively with their hands. Nor anyone who has seen the original DreamGirls on broadway with Jennifer Holiday, would tell you the most outlandish tales of all the boys he had dated, and was more fun to share a martini with then Carrie Bradshaw.

I would trade in my cabana boy for a great gay friend any day.

I'm so sorry about your friend. One of my best friends from high school was gay. I LOVED him. He was Beth's cousin. We had so much fun with him. He didn't care what people thought, he just had fun and that is so hard to come by now-a-days.
