Swinging Standards

Lately I have taken to listening to the Swinging Standards station on our satellite TV. They don't play any songs that were written after approximately 1968. In fact, the bulk where written between 1930-1960. They play a lot of Frank, some of the Velvet Fog's best stuff, Peggy Lee, Doris Day, and every once and awhile Rita Hayworth's version of Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered from Pal Joey. For some reason 50 year old music seems to soothe me lately.

I also have been learning a great deal about the Big Band movement. I originally thought there was only one or two REALLY big bands. Boy, was I REALLY wrong. There are so many of them that half the time I have no idea who they are. But it's funny, because I know the songs. Here are some of my favourites.
