Beyond Frustrated

I bought a laptop. I spent literally HOURS setting it up the way I wanted it. I didn't have it more than 2 weeks when I get a message the hard drive is going. F#$%king fantastic! Because this happens, like the day, before I have to move to Canmore. This was supposed to be my away from home computer, because I have a bunch of contract work I have to get done and I needed Office 2007 to do it. That is one of the programs I had just loaded onto it.

It also had a built in camera so I could Skype Mark. But now I have no laptop, for 2 weeks it has been at the store waiting for a replacement hard drive. So I have had my old one, no Office 2007, because it is so old it can't handle it. No camera because it won't install the driver for my web cam. Weighs a ton. Holds a charge for about 3 seconds, if it isn't plugged in. I am so pissed off right now. And frustrated. When the guy told me today they would not get in my replacement hard drive until next week, so he was just going to give me a replacement, but no, sorry, they can't transfer my files, I almost burst into tears.

First off, I do no have time to set up a new laptop like I had done before. This contract work is taking up every free hour I have and it will until the end of the month if I want to get it done by the 30th. So when I am supposed to do all this setup again? No damn idea? When I tried to explain to the guy that I have used up my 5 computer authorizations for iTunes and can't reset them until December, he started talking to me about license keys. Completely clueless about what I am talking about. Apple only let's you have music on 5 computers for copyright reasons. I have all my slots used up. I had to phone my mom to de-authorize her computer on Monday so I could set up my work computer. Because new laptop if fried, I can't de-authorize it, nor did I think to de-authorize my old work computer, so I have 2 authorizations being taken up by computers I have no access to. And because Apple will only let you de-authorize all your computers and start fresh once a year I am screwed until December. When I tried to explain this he kept telling me as long as I had a licence I would be fine. You don't need a licence to install iTunes!! But as soon as I try to sync my iPod to this new computer it is automatically going to ask me to authorize it, which I won't be able to do because I have none left. Why does all this shit always have to happen when you are in the middle of a move when you time and nerves are already streched to the breaking point?

Update: My phone call must have worked because when Mark went to pick up my replacement laptop they gave me a much better one then I had. Very nice. Mark also came through and put a bunch of the software I needed on it last night. Isn't he sweet!

I can't believe the computer guy didn't understand the authorization thing! He must not be an iTunes fan like we are. It's the first thing I did to my new computer when I got it.

Frustrated! I would be completely livid. And that sounds like something that would happen to me. What a bummer. I'm sorry about that.
